Here’s an update on the renovation work. Things are moving along quickly now, nearly finished. Peter-the-Painter is still working and hopes to be finished on Thursday. The glass splashback for the kitchen is due to be fitted on Friday morning, and then we ring up the electrician who will fix the electrical plates to the walls, finish connecting up the under-floor heating, and reconnect the alarm system again (with the assistance of the specialist alarm fitters). And here are a few photos.
The new kitchen tap is fitted but there is one small problem. We need a ‘whole-house pump’ for the hot water pressure to be boosted enough for this fancy bit of kit of work properly. At the moment, the mixer doesn’t mix all that well, but it is functioning well enough. The end of the tap is a pull-out type with a hose attachment. I love that.

Painting still needs doing on the walls, and the Georgian door still needs painting, but all good things come to those who wait. And wait. And wait. So I’m told. It was a beautiful spring day, so we opened the folding doors all the way to allow the house to be flushed through with pollen. Hachooo! But we love those folding doors, and how it opens up the house to the outside.

Oh I would love looking at it too and hopefully you will have a wondrous calm warm summer and those doors can stand open for days and days.. how beautiful. I am becoming quite desperate to have the house back and have been taking work off the contractor. They have been here way too long. So the painting and the trim and the glasshouse and the porch will all have to happen another time. i am deeply tired of it all now. but if i end up with anything as beautiful as what you have I will be thrilled.. c
I know exactly what you mean about being desperate to get ones house back. We took on the entire ground floor at once, so everything (in the lounge, dining room, kitchen and utility room) had to be moved upstairs or into the conservatory. It’s a sure way to go extremely grumpy very quickly.
In a few weeks, Andy brings in his tractor and levels the garden, removes bushes at the end of their lifespan, moves the greenhouse, and relays the patio slabs.
Then we are off to Colombia for the wedding.
Then back home, and we start on a wet room in the bathroom. 😀
