Sometimes the simplest things bring unexpected comfort and joy. Just carrots and frozen peas, simmered in enough water to cover until tender. Thicken the cooking liquid with a butter and flour ball, season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in chopped parsley at the last minute. It was perfect with leftover ham and a few boiled potatoes.
