A Little Bit of Mid-July

It’s mid-July, and that means that the garden is showing the benefits of regular rainfall and feeding. I’m hoping that in another two weeks, we’ll be knee-deep in tomatoes. What better way to taste summer than to eat tomatoes straight off the vine! The yellow blossom is from the asier (cucumber) plant, from which Peder will make his Danish pickles. It’s a special variety that retains its crispness even after pickling. Peder’s been busy for weeks making wooden planters for the small deck area by the garage. He’s very handy, and very clever with such things. Now he’s making me a waist-high veg trug. I think he’s found himself a new hobby….

Here are a few random photos taken this afternoon.

It’ll be helpful for my old dickie back. All that leaning over it’s kindly on it. Hope your injury is mending well, Karen. >
