The Best Ever Garden Gloves

Truly, they are. The best ever! Well, not if you’re mucking about with thorny plants, but if it’s general gardening like tidying-up, deadheading and weeding, plain old disposable latex gloves are just the best ever for the job. You can feel what you’re gripping no matter how tiny the plant, and yet your hands stay clean and dry. Also, if you smoosh a bit of hand lotion on before you put on your gloves, the warmth inside the glove will give your hands a free massage and a lovely soften.

Just don’t use these for trimming roses! Ouch!

Good morning, c. Just back from Denmark after a few weeks away. Lots to catch up on, and I’ll try to pop by your kitchen garden tomorrow morning. Nite, nite!

  2. Such a clever idea and we have boxes of these in the garage.

  3. I’ve recently discovered nitrile gardening gloves which you hardly know you have on! Up til now I’ve never been able to work any lenght of time with gardening gloves on as I’ve found them too bulky, but these really work for me, and although not suitable for really spiky work, they do offer a bit more protection than latex.

I’ll have to check out those gloves! Thanks for the recommendation. 😀

  4. Nice idea, Misky, although I like a little more protection – I’ve put too many spiky things through latex gloves just working in the kitchen! 😉

Oh dear, Celia. No, perhaps these aren’t best for you. What do you use as gardening gloves: cotton fabric ones?

      1. I’m such a klutz, Misk. 😉 I use the cotton ones with latex palms for grip, that they sell in the hardware stores here.

Yes, I have some of those also with cute little piccies on them (roses, smilie faces, hearts, etc.) My little Emma gave me a pair with Hello Kitties on them. 😀

  5. You always have the best tips, Misky! Are there a pair you recommend for spiky roses??

I rather fancy the Ultra gloves, myself. 😀 Wonderful site.

    2. Yes, Showa’s the brand of nitrile gardening gloves I’m using!

  7. A friend uses these, but your tip of hand lotion takes it all to another level ! Great post 🙂

Thanks, Claire! Happy gardening in sunny Sussex!

      1. I’m in Sussex too. Isn’t it a lovely day!

        1. Misky says:
